Kaurna Learning Circle

The transformation of the northern end of the North Terrace campus聽acknowledges and celebrates the Kaurna people and culture.

A meeting place and ceremonial space, the Kaurna Learning Circle was developed in partnership with the聽Pro Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Engagement, Professor Shane Hearn, and聽Wiltu Yarlu. The redevelopment also includes聽expansive new lawn areas, an emphasis on South Australian vegetation and the聽restoration of vistas to the River Torrens (Karrawirra Parri).聽

  • Expansion of the Barr Smith Lawns and extensive landscaping featuring compacted local clay soil, native South Australian plants, and Australian bluestone and granite paving
  • The artwork聽Wangu Poles, by local Aboriginal artist聽Paul Herzich
  • The sculpture Spriggina Floundersi, by local artist Silvio Apponyi
  • Removal of boundary fencing and low wall around the Barr Smith Lawns
  • Upgraded underground services and聽addition of event services.
