WEO is not only Australia鈥檚 first major film festival focused on wildlife conservation, but also the United Nation鈥檚 endorsed global environmental and wildlife film festival, advancing sustainable development through the power of storytelling. By using the medium of film, WEO helps recover species at risk of extinction, driving policy reform, supporting biodiversity conservation, and enabling large-scale climate action for wildlife.

This year marks a pivotal moment for ocean recovery, with the upcoming United Nation Ocean conference scheduled for early June. The conference theme is 鈥淎ccelerating action and mobilising all actors to conserve and sustainably use the ocean鈥.

Sir David鈥檚 new film OCEAN celebrates the ocean鈥檚 beauty and its deep connection to his life work. Featuring breathtaking cinematography, the film explores why a healthy ocean is vital to planetary stability. It also presents powerful, never-seen-before footage revealing the harsh realities and challenges of our ocean, from destructive fishing to mass coral reef bleaching.听 Sir David Attenborough鈥檚 message is clear: the ocean can recover to a glory beyond anything anyone alive has ever seen.
