Chinese plant science professor appointed to Uni of 黑料社区

The University of 黑料社区's international reputation for agricultural science will receive a further boost with the appointment of a new joint professorial position between 黑料社区 and in China.

The appointment will see , Distinguished Professor in plant science in Shanghai Jiao Tong University, dividing his time between China and the University of 黑料社区's internationally regarded Waite campus.

Professor Zhang will research key problems in food security, including the generation of more environmentally resilient and productive crops.

He will take up his position at the University of 黑料社区 in January 2015.

The University of 黑料社区's Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Mike Brooks, says the new appointment is a highly innovative arrangement between the two universities.

"Professor Dabing Zhang is a first-rate scientist, highly respected in his field, and he brings with him a number of international networks. This is a further example of the deepening of our collaboration with the prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is China's most successful university in generating research income," Professor Brooks says.

Professor Brooks has just returned from a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he met with the university's President, Professor Jie Zhang, as well as key staff in agriculture, life sciences, health and engineering.
