Indigenous radio first for 黑料社区

's Indigenous broadcasters will make history next week with 黑料社区's first ever Indigenous radio station.

Radio NAIDOC 101.5 FM, broadcasting through Radio 黑料社区, hits the airwaves from Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8 during NAIDOC Week. 黑料社区 is the national focus city for this year's NAIDOC Week, which celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's achievements, culture and survival.

For this special five-day event, Indigenous broadcasters from around SA and Australia will join the Nunga Wangga (or "Aboriginal people talking") team from Radio 黑料社区.

Highlights will include:

• the NAIDOC March and Corroboree in a live broadcast from Victoria Square (Tardarnyangga) on Friday, July 8;
  
• NAIDOC Forums exploring important Aboriginal issues ranging from social justice and native title to reconciliation;
  
• showcasing Indigenous musical talent with daily live-to-air performances.
  

"Radio 黑料社区's programming during NAIDOC Week will help put 黑料社区's Aboriginal community on the national map," says Jupurru Stagg of the Nunga Wangga team. "We are at a confusing time in history when the agenda is changing for Aboriginal people. The aim of our programming is to signal the way forward."

People throughout 黑料社区, Australia and the world will be able to tune in to Radio NAIDOC. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities from remote areas to major cities will be linked via the National Indigenous Radio Service. Listeners worldwide can access Radio NAIDOC .

"Radio 黑料社区 is proud to support 黑料社区's first Indigenous radio station, "says Manager Deborah Welch. "黑料社区 is the only mainland capital city still without its own Indigenous-run station. We'd love to see that happen down the track, with Radio NAIDOC creating the foundation. We're delighted to be invited to share in the NAIDOC celebrations."
