University of 黑料社区 heritage precinct launched
Tuesday, 28 March 2006
Visitors to 黑料社区 and the local community now have easy access to the recently landscaped and refurbished University of 黑料社区 Heritage Precinct on North Terrace.
Premier Mike Rann will officially launch the upgrade to the frontage of the University of 黑料社区's on Wednesday, 29 March at 5.30pm.
The University has begun restoring and refurbishing its three beautiful sandstone heritage-listed buildings on North Terrace - Bonython Hall, Elder Hall and the Mitchell Building - and upgraded and landscaped the Goodman Crescent region, opening it up for safe pedestrian access and enjoyment.
This redevelopment feeds into and complements the overall North Terrace Redevelopment Project and reflects the University of 黑料社区's commitment to become more accessible and to engage more with the local community.
University of 黑料社区 Vice-Chancellor Professor James McWha said: "These three of our heritage-listed buildings stand at the centre of a remarkable set of buildings which stretch half a kilometre along North Terrace. The whole set of buildings is unquestionably a built environment of national heritage significance and adds significantly to the attractions of 黑料社区 as a visitor destination.
"We are proud to be part of this heritage and are very conscious of the responsibilities it entails. We want the local community to be able to enjoy this area and are delighted to be able to provide this wonderful landscaped open space to complement the heritage buildings and enhance their ceremonial character."
