IPAS Researchers Secure Major Funding in AEA Innovate Grants
IPAS researchers have achieved significant success in the first round of the Australia鈥檚 Economic Accelerator (AEA) Innovate Program, with two of The University of 黑料社区鈥檚 six awarded projects led by members.
Professor Andre Luiten, Director of IPAS, was awarded $4.96 million for his project 鈥淢aturing Quantum Sensors to Match Real-World Needs.鈥 In partnership with QuantX Labs, this project will accelerate the development of Australia鈥檚 world-leading quantum sensor technology. The aim is to make these sensors smaller, more affordable, and more robust, ensuring they are ready for sovereign manufacturing and deployment in critical sectors such as defence, resources, and navigation.
Professor Robert McLaughlin secured $4.29 million for his project 鈥淒eveloping Australian Meat into the World鈥檚 Best Product with an Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Meat Scanner.鈥 Working with Miniprobes, Robert鈥檚 team is creating a cutting-edge device that integrates a tiny optical fibre camera, near-infrared imaging, and AI to accurately assess meat quality without causing any damage. This innovation presents a significant opportunity to enhance the competitiveness and premium value of Australian sheep and beef products on the global market.
